Sunny with few showers in the evening around 5pm. Cool and breezy. Easy trail, flat with slight incline. Paved trail . Wide for trucks to drive through. Few marked hunting trails toward the ridge on the right when going up this trail past the petroglyphs. At the fork of the trail we took the right fork, went another 30 minutes and had to head back. Went in an hour and 45 minutes including taking photos and looking around at the history. Took 1 hour to get back. Did not get to the rodent sign.
this was my second time on this hike this time around I brought my almost 6 year old son. we both hiked with no problems.
I am always surprised how many people show up in their slipper/flip flops, as the trail is very uneven and rocky. even though this hike is under 2 miles, I would say tennis shoes are a must.
In my opinion, not a very pretty hike, which is why I rated this hike a 7. still, well worth the time to see the summit view.
Including our shaved ice reward at the end, it took us a total of 1 1/2 hours.
