The trail starts along the Anaehoomalu Bay, or the A-Bay at the public showers. At the end of the beach, you will come across the Kaauau Point and the Hilton Waikoloa Village Hotel, finally reaching the Lulahala Point or the Buddha Point. Next, you will come across a golf course and the rugged Hawaiian cliffs and reach the swanky neighborhood near Honokaope Bay.
Along the Makaiwa Bay, you will cross the ancient fishponds of Kalahuipuaa - a Hawaiian archeological site, representing the spirit of the island. Along the way, you may come across a few turtles in the beach too! The trail next passes through the Puako Petroglyph Trail and a nice stretch of the coast.
Few of the other beaches that you will come across in the trail are the Wailea Beach, the Hapuna Beach (with another archeological site), the Kaunaoa Beach and the Maumae Beach, finally reaching the Spencer County Beach Park, from where you can take a cab back to the trail head.
