Start the trail from the trail head which comes after the parking lot and walk along the road passing homes, taro fields and an irrigation trench. When you cross the trench, you will walk into a lower valley and pass an old house foundation and burial site. A rock wall borders the trail which is believed to be the remains of old boundary walls.
You will see the first ancient temple on the trail surrounded by a stone wall. The rock wall marks the division between the lower valley and the upper valley. As you continue along the trail you will pass an ancestral fireplace. There is a platform after the rock wall which the ancient Hawaiians used to make offerings to the God of Fish. A few more steps ahead and you will pass the Fertility temple. Leaving the fertility temple, you will come to the place with many circles of learning. From here you will have the first glimpse of the Mo'olua Falls and the Halawa stream below.
Look for the old temple dedicated to the God of Agriculture and Peace and another stone wall marking the entry to the upper valley. Look straight and you will see the Mo'olua Falls ahead.
