You start the trail from the parking lot in the campground and head into the shady alien forest with towering trees. Then pass through the forest exploring the eucalyptus trees and tall pines. Throughout your trek, you will also notice other species of plants like the Sugi Pines, Spruce, Juniper and Fir, which are not native to Hawaii.
The trail leads you further to a mixed forest of alien and native plants. A climb to the overlook at 6933 feet will let you have the view of the Keanae valley and the Waikamoi Gulch. Loop through the native forest of Pilo and Ohei plants. Walk along the way till you find a junction that offers you the option of either going back to the first section of Hosmer Grove or continue the nature trail. Pass through native forest and climb steps that lead to an open outlook to get the complete view of the forest. Walk down the trail to complete the loop and go back to your car.
