The hike starts by passing a gate and following an asphalt path. You can hear, but not see the Pi'ina'au Stream here. It becomes visible as you make your way a little further down the path. The species of trees here are plentiful, too many to name. AT 0.3 miles the asphalt end and you'll see a collection of plants that were brought here by the native Hawaiians.
