If you are looking for a safe path to reach the pool, the shoreline path is the best option, though the path is long and boring, without anything to see except dry and barren fields. The trail begins from Makapuu Point State Wayside Park, from where you have to walk down the Makapuu Point Lighthouse Road.
Roughly one mile up the starting portion, you will find a whale-watching lookout center. Just right of this lookout place, you will get the path to the pools. If you miss the path, just look out for a large enough blowhole - if you find that the water has reached almost up to 30 feet, you will know that you have reached the right place. Just keep descending cautiously through the rocky path till you reach the pools, where you can take a short bath. Avoid approaching the blowholes along the trail, as they can be dangerous.
