Nakalele Blowhole

Hawaii > Maui > Lahaina
Summary
Length1.2 mi
Elev. Gain245 ft
Difficulty1 / 5
Rating7 / 10
TypeBeach
Nalakele Point is situated on the northern coast of Maui. This trail would lead you to one of the wonders of nature where you would see water surging through a hole in the lava shelf before erupting to some 100 feet or more in the air.

You start your trail on the jeep road after the parking lot and walk to the edge of the coastline. You will find many labyrinths coming up all over Maui. Walk on the rim of the ocean and look for sea caves, blowholes and rocky formations. Follow the path till you reach the light beacon situated on top of a stone extension which also marks the northernmost point on Maui. You can look for sea turtles swimming and feeding in the reefs.

Descend from the lighthouse and walk towards the ocean facing right and you will enter some rocky structures. Explore the black beach and the rock structures on the beach. Next you can climb a stone step and listen to the sounds of water gushing in the blowhole and erupting out from the sea cave.
