Start on the Pihea trail heading straight, dodging the ridges between the Kalalau Valley and the Alaka'i Swamp. After walking down 1 mile on the muddy path, you will reach the Pihea Vista. Climb the muddy rocks to reach a place with the view of the Na Pali Coast. You will find the Alaka'i Swamp if you turn in the opposite direction. Go back to the main trail and start descending till you find a walkway made of artificial wooden steps and a broad footpath 1.7 miles long leading to a four-way junction.
Turn left towards the Alaka'i Swamp trail and head to the Kilohana Vista. Continue descending till you enter a rainforest and the walkway takes you to cross a stream to enter into an open swampland. The footpath continues its way to the Kilohana Lookout.
