You will start your trail on the red clay path as it climbs up the body of the Sleeping Giant. Within minutes, you will get the first view of the ocean. You need to do a lot of climbing and reach nearly 550 meters to see the complete outline of the Sleeping Giant. Turn right and hike up the slope to get a view of the giant's face. In the next session you need to go up a vertical narrow ridge and climb on a steep switchback before you gain elevation. At 1.8 miles you will reach a green stand on top of the Sleeping Giant and get a full view of the Nounou Mountain, the Wailua River, wooded valleys and if the skies are clear a view of the peak of Mount Waialeale.
