The Koke'e State Park covering 4345 acres is located along the Waimea Canyon. It is set at 3600 feet elevation and contains some precious trees that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

You begin your hike walking the path, passing the large Koa tree and after few steps reach the large Kauila plant. Move on and you find different species like the Papala tree. After a short distance, you will get to see the Holio plant. Another widespread plant is this area is Laukea. You will also come across the Mokihana tree as you hike.

Continue walking on the path and you would notice a wide range of native plants like the Ohia lehua and the Manono coffee plant. You will continue your exploration of plants as you pass the Ahkea trees, the Uahi a Pele, the Iliahi or the sandalwood tree and the ala'a or bronze leaf tree.
